Balance Guru Vegan Skincare Review
Hello vegan beauty lovers! This is Becky, one of Sunny’s bestestest friends in the whole wide world – with troubled skin. Dry patches, oily patches, redness, roughness, just a rough and tired mess. Dang.
Anyways, as you all know, Sunny’s your go-to girl when looking for organic, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free creams, lotions, and potions. I was complaining about how dry and tired the ol’ mug was lookin’, so Sunny sent over a trio of Balanced Guru products for me to try.
Balanced Guru describes themselves as a group of individuals who offer only certified organic choices for skin care, hair care, spa, and aromatherapy, formulated on ancient eastern wisdom and modern scientific research. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, I have a feeling this shadowy organization is Santa’s elves working away on their off-season. I can’t find much more info on Balanced Guru and their products are magical! Santa, are you this Balanced Guru?!
Well I’ve been using the following finds every day for two weeks – the difference in my skin has been astounding!
Balanced Guru Tone It Lightly ($34.00) – 4 oz: This is the first Balanced Guru product I tried, an organic citrus facial toner designed to purify and balance “oily/congested skin.” That is a good way to describe my skin – congested. 🙁
I love that this toner comes in a spray bottle. After cleansing, I spritz my face – no way I’m wasting this nectar of the gods on a cotton ball – and the toner stays in place. I hate watery toners. Tone It Lightly has a substantial, silky smooth feel, dries quickly, and leaves my skin looking smoother, brighter, and – something I’ve been looking ages for – takes away my skin’s redness! This is literally the ONLY product I’ve tried that has calmed that darn redness!
Tone It Lightly essential ingredients:
- Witch Hazel
- Lemon Verbena
- Nettle Extract
- Arnica Extract
- Tea Tree Oil
- Eucalyptus
- Thyme
- German Chamomile
Balanced Guru also makes Tone It Deeply (for dry/combination skin) and Tone It Smoothly (for sensitive/mature skin). nd each are available in 1oz travel sizes if you wanna try these goodies out!
Balanced Guru Calming Masque ($42.00) – 4 oz: Designed for dry/sensitive skin, this amazing face masque smells like the tastiest baked goods – hearty, earthy, warm, and delectable. Can something smell “warm”? Hmmm…
It comes as a dry powder which you then reanimate – I used a 50/50 mix with water. As a liquid, this masque smells fresh, like a smoothie made with lots of greens, and it looks like a vibrant green slime. This slime sticks nicely to your face, drying quickly – I hate it when masques take forever to dry! – and you can really feel it tighten your skin. Easy to rinse off – I also hate it when masques just won’t wash off! – this masque left my skin plump and soft.
Calming Masque essential ingredients:
- Echinacea
- Alfalfa Leaf
- Marshmallow Root
- Ginger
- Sea Buckthorn
- Calendula Flowers
Balanced Guru also makes an Antioxidant Masque (for mature skin), Moisturizing Masque (for dry/sensitive skin), Astringent Masque (for oily/congested skin). And each masque is available in 1oz travel sizes!
Balanced Guru Ageless Serum ($85.00) – 1 oz: I almost spit out my smoothie when I found out how much this serum cost – um, dang. Was it worth it??? UM, YES!
This organic triple rose firming serum plumps up my skin, leaving me looking all dewy and refreshed. And a little goes a long way – I use about eight drops on my big fat face and voluptuous décolletage (I’m an almost six foot tall Xena Warrior Princess) which provides plenty of coverage – you’ll probably need less. Now this serum does give your skin a bit of a sheen. So I use it all over at night, and then only on my dry patches (why do I have dry patches on my cheeks next to my nose? why there?) and on areas I wanna plump up, like under my eyes.
Some rose products can be a bit aromatically overpowering. But instead of screaming ROSES! – this serum has a lovely and calming scent, with subtle notes of rose. The best way to describe this scent is “Mmmm yummy!:
Ageless Serum essential ingredients:
- Bulgarian Rose
- Rosehip Seed
- Evening Primrose
- Helichrysum
- Argan
- Jojoba Oil
- Neroli
I give Balanced Guru a 10 out of 10! Every product I’ve tried, I’ve loved. Can’t wait to try some of their energy mists and hair care products!
