July 2015 Calmbox Review & Coupon Code
There’s a new subscription box in town – Calmbox – and it’s catered to peeps who need to take it down a notch and chillax… and trust me, I am one of those people (mama of 2 crazed munchkins over here!). If you’re looking for calm, mindfulness, and stress relief (HOLLA!), def check this box out!
Every calmbox includes 4-8 mindfully chosen (i.e. eco, natural, organic, etc.) items to help you unwind and relax such as candles, natural minerals and crystals, aromatic herbs, inspiring books, music, tea, motivational cards, physical aids, etc.
Subscriptions are $35/month with free U.S. shipping ($10 to Canada, and $15 everywhere else).
Calmbox’s July 2015 debut box included:
Zen and the Art of Happiness by Chris Prentiss – This book has amaaazing reviews on Amazon.com, which is a big deal to me (I ain’t reading’ no 1.5 star books, namean?). This book is intended to teach you “how to adapt to life’s inevitable changes, how to deal with stress in a healthy way, and how to nurture a mindful happiness in your daily life.” Bummed I hadn’t discovered this book sooner – excited to dive in!
Mindfulness Cards – Recently, I downloaded a 1.5 billion mindfulness iphone apps to help me chill the F out while I’m on the go. Have I been using them? Hmm, not so much… I prefer things on paper, that I can actually touch and manhandle. Gonna keep these in my purse for emergencies (which can be a daily thing with a toddler).
Necklace – I’m just gonna come right out and say that this is a hippie piece of jewelry, and I actually really, really like it! It might be a wee bit dudely for my taste, but Imma gift it to one of my mindful guy pals, ’cause it’s pretty frickin’ cool.
Votive Candle – I love that they included a candle in this box. Candles are hella calming, and this one’s new home is right beside my bath tub. It’s sweet and simple.
Gemstones – I go nuts for gemstones. I love that each gemstone has a healing intention. Whether or not they actually “work” is kind of whatever because a) they’re beautiful to look at and b) placebos often work, so what’s the harm in believing in some pretty Mama Earthly-made rocks? I’m glad they included a cheat sheet to identify each stone, too.
Moleskine Cahier Pocket Journal & Pencil – You can’t really have too many journals. I’m going to use this one to write down my dreams when I wake up each morning… maybe this is allow me to actually hang on to all those ephemeral Ryan Gosling and vegan twinkie dreams I have!
Yogi Calming Tea – I LOVE Yogi tea, especially because they’re like corny fortune cookies for tea lovers (they have inspirational sayings and bits of advice on each tea bag). Calming tea sounds like the perfect before-beddies ritual… will begin stat!
Pure Organic Chocolate Brownie Bar – I actually load up on these every time I’m at Trader Joe’s. When I’m in the mood for a “candy bar” but I don’t wanna sabotage my plans for having a hot mom bod (ha, yeah right!) ;), I reach for one of these. My son loves eating these, too – they’re delicious!
Overall impression: What a unique idea for a subscription box! I’m stoked I got to experience their debut box – I thought it was full of all kinds of fun goodies to help me chill and be more present. Box faves include the gemstones, journal, necklace, and book (ha, that’s almost everything).
