Eco-Friendly Jewelry from Costa Rican designer Ana Gutierrez
Lately I’ve been all about quality over quantity when it comes to statement fashion pieces, and most especially when it comes to jewelry. There was a time (let’s be real, yesterday!) when I would clear out Claire’s $1 jewelry sale rack and come home with a million cheapies, most of which I’d never even wear.
There’s something that just really feels good about having fewer items but having them all be pieces that you truly love that will get lots of use. This brings me to my latest jewelry addition, a gorgeous and unique scarf necklace with genuine amazonite ($126) from Costa Rican designer Ana Gutierrez.
Btw, I chose this piece because I’m absolutely smitten with the gemstone amazonite. Excuse me while I hippie out on amazonite’s healing properties for just one sec – Amazonite is a soothing stone that helps calm the brain and nervous system and balances the masculine and feminine energies. It can help alleviate worry and fear and dispel negative energy and aggravation. It protects against electromagnetic pollution and absorbs microwaves, too. If this bit of info doesn’t jive with you per se, just know that it’s a really pretty green rock. 😉
Ana’s pieces reflect the extraordinary nature she sees around her in her native country, and she’s also eco-friendly and practices sustainable fashion. A percentage of the money she makes goes back to the preservation of Costa Rica’s wildlife, forests, beaches, and islands.
This flowy, feminine, and lightweight piece is from her Oceanic collection, inspired in the coral reefs of Coco´s Island National Park a.k.a. World Heritage by Unesco. With every piece purchased, she donates 9% to the National Park protection and illegal fishing fighting. Gotta love that. ♥
Just a heads up: This 18k gold-plated brass beauty is a limited edition of 50.
What’s your current favorite eco-friendly fashion piece?
