Love Goodly April/May 2016 Subscription Box Review
I’m super excited to share the eco & vegan-friendly items featured in Love Goodly‘s April/May beauty & lifestyle box, which was curated by the gorgeous and talented actress, activist, and author Alicia Silverstone. If you’re new to Love Goodly, it’s a beautifully curated subscription box that delivers 5-7 cruelty-free, natural, and vegan full size products ranging from non-toxic beauty and skincare, healthy snacks, and eco style accessories. You can peep my previous reviews here.
Cost: It’s $39.95 bi-monthly (every other month) with price breaks for longer subscriptions. Icing on the cake → each purchase supports a cause, including Farm Sanctuary (this month’s charity partner) and Cure Cervical Cancer.
The April/May Love Goodly Box includes 5 items:
mykind Organics B12 Vitamin Spray, $16.95 – You’re only supposed to spritz this into your mouth once a day, but it’s SO frickin’ tasty, you’ll want more (ha, just a heads up). This B-12 spray was created by Alicia Silverstone in collaboration with Garden of Life, and it’s 100% vegan, organic, non-gmo verified, and it has a dee-lish raspberry flavor. Btw, B-12 is one of those vitamins that vegans are encouraged to supplement as it’s scarce in the veggie world. It helps promote concentration, energy, and the formation of healthy blood cells (um, yes please, to ALL that ish!). This spray is gluten-free and doesn’t have any synthetic binders or fillers, just real food ingredients.
OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream, $48 – Y’all, I’ve been using the all-natural beauty cream for years – it’s one of my faves. It’s lightweight, emollient (algae-based), hydrating, and it helps protect your skin form environmental damage. You can use this as a makeup primer, too, because it leaves a matte, silky finish. Also worth noting: It has a lovely subtle floral scent (zero synthetic fragrance), and the glass packaging is always a winner in my book.
ZAO Organic Makeup, Organic Volume Mascara, $35 – This non-toxic, cruelty-free, vegan and certified organic mascara is luxurious and only uses natural ingredients. How on point is their eco chic bamboo packaging!? LOVE. I’m not always wild about all-natural mascaras because some of them have zero defining or volumizing factor, but this one actually follows through with its claim to thicken lashes. This mascara isn’t waterproof btw (a.k.a. easy to wash off, hallelujah!), which is fine ’cause I’m not planning on going for a swim or watching sappy chick flicks (← my fave genre, tho) anytime too soon. 😉
Nicobella Vegan Organic Dark Chocolate Walnut Flaxseed Truffles, $3.98 – Ooh, these were scarfed down in 2.736 seconds flat. I know, truffles are sophisticated chocolates that should prolly be enjoyed slowly with a hot cup o’ tea, but that’s just how I roll. While I’ve been somewhat conscious of what I’ve been eating lately (post-baby jigglies still kinda in place), these truffles are actually healthy. 🙂 They’re packed with antioxidants and superfoods like walnuts and flaxseeds. These also contain half the sugar of regular truffles! I might need to order a big ol’ case of these! 😉
KooShoo Organic Hair Ties, $6 – These hair ties are made in the USA, using organic cotton and natural rubber. They’re hand dyed using low impact dye in the first solar-powered dye house in downtown LA (cool!). The company gives 11% back to charity, too (doubly cool!). They look strong and long-lasting – a bit thick/wide, but I’m sure I’ll get the hang of ’em. Cool that they provided both a brown and black hair tie… secretlynososecretly wishing they were pink. 😉
Overall impression: This box has insane value – around $112 worth of goodies for $40 (DANG!). As always, every single item was exciting and fun. I adore Alicia Silverstone, this month’s Love Goodly curator, and I think she pretty much killed it with her selections. Faves of mine include the Nicobella truffles (duh… chocolate rules me life!), Osea’s Atmosphere Protection Cream, and the tasty-ass MyKind B-12 vitamin spray – HOLLA!
