Petit Vour Vegan Beauty Box May 2016 Review
Happy Petit Vour Unboxing Day! If you’re new to Petit Vour, it’s a monthly subscription box that comes loaded with samples (including full-sized ones) from fancy, vegan, cruelty-free, and non-toxic brands. You can peep all my previous PV box reviews here. This goodie box is only $15 a month (super duper good deal, especially considering this month’s box is valued at $35) and includes free shipping in the U.S. ($23 for Canada).
You’ll also be able to earn points in their shop (product links within this post) with every purchase, review, and friend rec. Compassionate and affordable—pretty sweet, right?
May’s Petit Vour 3 Year Anniversary (!!!) Beauty Box included:
Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray, $7 – This is a texturizing and moisturizing hair spray for peeps aspiring to have wavy beach hair. This product was first introduced to me in a previous Petit Vour beauty box from around this time last year. It contains Pacific sea salt, organic aloe vera, and organic sea kelp which provide moisture and a light hold. I have to admit, I haven’t tried this out on my follicles (I’m def a blow out kind of gal – if you saw my natural Medusa do post shower, you’d understand), but I did spray some on my hand to test it out. I will say that this spray smells pretty dang awesome with its rose geranium and palmarosa beachy rose scent. Love the glass packaging and general aesthetics of this product, too!
Bedrock & Bloom Smart Ash Teeth Whitener, $3 – If you’re not familiar with activated charcoal teeth cleansers & whiteners (which I am and I’m a HUGE fan), you might be a bit thrown off by this. It’s basically black powder (coconut charcoal a.k.a. magic – in my book) that you use to brush your teeth. Yes, it’s hella messy (def open up this container over the sink), and yes, it’s doesn’t produce sudsy mountains of foam, but it’s 100% natural, fluoride-free, non-gmo, vegan, and cruelty free (and like I said earlier, it’s magical). This unassuming powder has the power to whiten teeth, remove plaque, and rid your mouth of bacteria – all without harsh chemicals… or even non-harsh chemicals for that matter (let’s get back to nature, betches!). Lately, I’ve been dabbing the teensiet bit of toothpaste on my brush (using it sort of like an adhesive) and then going to town with the powder.
Ecco Bella Good for You Gloss in the shade Power,* $20 – EeeEee, this baby has a built-in mirror! Can all the gloss makers of the world please follow suit? 🙂 I’m that person that applies lipstick like this… I don’t typically carry mirrors in my purse so this is pretty rad. I’ve reviewed Ecco Bella on VBR several times, and I love that their formulas are all-natural and free of FD & C dyes, which are common in most conventional lip colors. How pretty is this rich berry shade?
Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel,* $5 – I haven’t used this sample yet but I’ve tried this mask before, and you can actually feel the alpha/beta hydroxy fruit acids work their magic! It’s definitely not recommended for sensitive skin, but if your skin is normal, oily, or acne-prone, this stuff is bomb! It’s designed to exfoliate and even skin tone and texture, keeping dreaded zits at bay.
* = PV faves
Overall impression: Lots of value in this month’s box – $35 for $15 (with free shipping, yee-haw!). Box faves definitely include the Ecco Bella lip gloss and Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel. The sea salt spray and activated charcoal teeth whitener are actually repeats from previous boxes (Petit Vour and Vegan Cuts) but I totally don’t mind as they are solid products.
If you like what you see, you should consider hooking yourself up with a Petit Vour subscription! Also, you can buy products you love directly from PV’s online store. Customers (even non-subscribers) receive 20% back in PV Points with every shop purchase. It’s like a constant 20% discount and when you combine that with the free shipping on all orders $50+… it’s an insane deal. xx
