May 2016 BuddhiBox

It’s BuddhiBox unboxing day! (←please say that out loud… so fun!)  *happy dance* This is one of my all-time fave monthly subby boxes, and this month’s goodie haul is REDONK! New to BB? It’s catered to peeps who enjoy yoga, healthy living, and mindfulness. This subscription box is set up so that each month you’ll receive 4-6 thoughtfully curated products (samples and full sized items) from ethically-sourced and socially conscious companies. BuddhiBox also chooses a charity to donate proceeds to each month. This month = Rise Yoga for Youth. They bring yoga and wellness education to schools and youth organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area to empower students to lead healthy lifestyles and respond to life’s challenges in constructive ways.

There are different subscription options that vary in price and get cheaper with duration, but the low commitment month-to-month option is $32.95/month. Btw, you can peep my past BuddhiBox reviews here.

This month’s goodie box, which I’ll delve into in just a bit, also came with a BuddhiBox info card with an inspirational Lao Tzu quote on the back, a recipe for Lindsay Luna’s blueberry smoothie (not vegan but veganizable), and an instructional Yogicard card for the pose Balasana a.k.a. Child’s Pose (my fave) – love saving these cute lil’ extras!

May’s BuddhiBox included:

Elle Jewels Elephant Strength Bracelet,* $20 – Gah, cute!! I have mad love for ellies, and this bracelet is so totally my style. The elephant pendent in the center symbolizes strength, honor, and patience.

Great Soles Grip Socks,* $12 – I was introduced to these grippy socks in the November 2014 Buddhibox, which was the first Buddhibox I had ever reviewed on VBR. That pair was pink, and this one is black, so I’m a very happy camper. I still use my old pair a ton, and not even specifically for yoga – I just wear them around the house kind of as slippers. They’re hella cozy and cute with their strappy ballerina flair.

Yogasana: The Encyclopedia of Yoga Poses,* $30 – Subscribers either received Contact Yoga or Yogasana, and I’m beyond stoked I got the latter – the motha book of yoga poses. It’s packed with over 800 (!) poses ranging from beginner to advanced, performed by renowned practitioner Yogrishi Vishvketu (fit, man-bunned, yoga pro). It’s full of detailed, instructional pics, and I like how the poses include the traditional names in Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, and English… makes it feel extra legit, ya know?

House of Good Juju Mother’s Day Love & Light Tea Light,* $3.50 – I’ve never seen a candle embedded with frickin’ gemstones before – this is brilliant! Oh, and it smells so pretty – comforting, calming, and feminine. It’s infused with lavender, jasmine, grapefruit, and patchouli essential oils. And it’s so babely, both visually and smelly wise. They added lavender, rose petals, quartz, and rose quartz on top to banish negative energy and to open the heart chakra.

Stinky Yogi Perfume,* $30 – I first tried this perfume in the BuddhiBox from November 2015. In fact, it was one of my faves from that month’s box. This is actually a bonus item, a token of appreciation. How sweet is that? Maxine, the founder of Buddhibox, is such a lovely person, and the fact that she goes out of her way to spoil her subscribers is no surprise. This perfume is all-natural, featuring pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils. I still don’t know the name of this scent as it’s not specified on the label, but it smells like vanilla and citrus with some other pretty ish goin’ down. Me likey mega mucho.

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts sample – This is another little bonus. Every time I receive these in a subby box, I use them right away in smoothies. It’s the perfect nutritional boost as it’s packed with tons of omegas, digestible proteins, vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

Overall impression: As always, this box has insane value – $96 worth of goodies, woweeeee!! This is one of those annoying months where I marked all the items as my faves. I’m so sorry… but not really. 😉 Each item will get lots of use and I probably won’t be passing anything along to anybody (oh, that sounds greedy). #keepingshitreal LOL. This box was a bigtime winner, and I feel all kinds of blessed.

I highly recommend giving BuddhiBox a try – quality mindful products, amazing value. It would make a great gift for a friend, loved one, or yourself! They also have a fantastic online shop if there’s a specific item you’ve got your eye on.
