Announcing 2016’s Lush Prize, A Fund Helping Eradicate Animal Testing
For the last 20 years, Lush has been fighting the cruel and ineffective practice of testing cosmetics on animals, and in 2012 they created the Lush Prize with the goal to completely eradicate the use of animals in all chemical testing.
Every year the Lush Prize offers $360,000 to passionate lobbyists, educators, scientists and researchers who are working toward animal testing-free solutions. For the first time ever, the Lush Prize is offering an additional prize fund of $75,000 USD to young scientists from North and South America that are pursuing a career in toxicity testing without the use of animals. Nominations for this regional award are open until midnight on July 24, 2016.
Lush is proof that it’s possible to invent, manufacture and bring to market an entire range of products that adhere to all legal safety requirements without ever having to test on animals along the way. They use a range of relatively simple and safe ingredients to make their products, and everything they sell is vegetarian and tested on humans, never animals.
