POPSUGAR Must Have Box September 2016 Review
After reviewing a couple of past vegan-friendly POPSUGAR Must Have Boxes, I was super curious to see what this month’s box had in store. Btw, if you’re new to the POPSUGAR’s subby box, it’s a monthly goodie box that has a mix of beauty, home-y stuff, accessories, jewelry, snacks, etc. – all trendy, pop culture-y stuff, too!
My fingers and toes were crossed that September’s PS Must Have box would be hella vegan, but unfortunately only 3 of the items were (noted them as non-vegan). Needless to say, this will be the last Must Have box I’ll be reviewing on VBR.
OK, let’s dive in!
Flint Lint Roller, $10 – This sleek lint roller is kind of swanky! It’s got a metallic sheen, it’s retractable, refillable, and fits perfectly in my purse. I have 2 long-haired kitties, so my clothes are always covered in fur. Always. This is a winner!
NCLA MANI E.R. Tool Kit, $16 – Can you believe I’ve never owned a mani kit!? I paint my nails weekly, and I guess I always just winged (wung?) it. I’m super grateful to happen across this handy dandy kit. It’s compact, portable, and it comes with everything I could possible need for pretty digits: clippers, nail file, v-shaped push stick, rounded push stick, and beauty scissors.
The Gluten Free Bites Dark Chocolate Coconut Bites, $5 – Ooh, vegan sweet chocolate-y treats – YASSSSS!!! Eeps, 2 bites = 100 calories!! That aside, I’m in love! They’re non-GMO, vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, high in protein, and they’re delicious!
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask, $36 – I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think this mask is vegan. There are a couple suspect ingredients that could either be plant or animal-derived, and I’m going to play it safe and assume their not plant-based. It’s too bad, too, because I’m in desperate need to some hair TLC. I’ll just use my old standby – coconut oil. 🙂
Jack & Lucy Bicoastal Wide Brim Hat, $58 – I couldn’t find the materials listed for this hat on the info card or the tag, but I have a hunch that it’s made from wool, and that breaks my heart because I love this style hat and I feel bad for the poor lil’ sheep.
Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer in The Warning, $22 – This semi-sheer red gloss is definitely not vegan (see how I saved all the non veeg items for the end?). It straight up has carmine in it, which are crushed buggies – eeewwww.
Verdict: All the items combined were worth $147 (box costs $39.95 per month, shipping included). It’s a great deal but it turns out this box is not vegan… crazy because the first Must Have box I ever received was 100% vegan. I guess it was totally accidental. Like I said earlier, I won’t be reviewing this box in the future. I will however enjoy the Gluten Free dark chocolate coconut bites, fancy lint roller, and mani kit – that’s fo’ sho!
I’m thinking we should start badgering POPSUGAR to come out with ah exclusive vegan & cruelty-free goodie box? Who’s with me?
