e.l.f. Precision Sponge Trio – Does It Compare to BeautyBlender?
I’d like to start out this post with a gooshy profession of love for makeup beauty sponges. They are serious game changers, am I right!? That being said, they’re definitely not all created equally. I think it’s safe to say that beautyblender is hands down, the holy grail of beauty sponges, but at $20 a pop, I’m definitely open to finding an as-good, cheaper alternative.
I recently got my beauty blendin’ paws on the brand spankin’ new e.l.f. Precision Sponge Trio which is a pack of 3 different sized makeup sponges (small, medium, and large) for only $12. HOLLA!!
They’re durable, latex-free and sized for precise application – small size can be used to blend concealer; medium to apply blush or bronzer; and large for foundation (cream, liquid, or powder).
If you’re new to makeup blenders in spongy form, you basically get them damp to soften them (make sure to squeeze out excess water), and apply makeup with a stippling/dabbing motion on the face and neck. You can repeat to build coverage.
Ok ok, great, but “How does it compare to beautyblender!?”
Oh, I’m so glad you asked, lol. 😉
Drum roll please…..
*dramatic pause* …
Unfortunately, they aren’t quite on the beautyblender level, but, I do still highly recommend them and here’s why:
- They are ridiculously affordable at $12 for 3 – lovin’ the different sizes for every part of the face
- They still plump up nicely when wet (that’s what he said, HA)
- They apply makeup quite nicely – they end result looks smooth, evenly blended, cohesive
Why they haven’t replaced beautyblender entirely:
- They just aren’t as squishy, soft, or porous. In fact they are pretty dense and not as bouncy on the skin. I don’t understand why there aren’t any other companies that can replicate the squishiness and softness of bb. That’s prolly why bb doesn’t budge on their price point… they kind of own the market.
Anyhoo, I still love this frickin’ trio and plan to use the sh*t out of it. They get the job done, and in the end, that’s what matters most.
Do you plan on giving these a whirl? Also, if you’ve tried anything that rivals beautyblender, please tell me all about it in the comments below. Thank you!! xoxo
