Non-Dairy Turmeric Matcha Latte [Recipe]
As someone who loves and appreciates nutrient-dense superfoods, antioxidant-rich everything, and TEA (tea time for me is all day every day!), I worship my beloved turmeric matcha latte that I always start my day with.
What is matcha?
Matcha is a special type of finely ground powder made from green tea that is grown in Japan. It has a mild grassy flavor (which is somewhat of an acquired taste), and unlike other types of teas, the green tea powder is comprised of the the entire leaf which you consume without straining, making it extra potent.
Matcha’s many health benefits
- Loaded with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
- Boosts metabolism
- Detoxifies
- Rich in fiber, chlorophyll, and vitamins
- Helps with concentration
- Contains vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc, and magnesium
- Helps lower cholesterol and blood sugar
- Contains caffeine which gives you a nice energy boost (in a form that’s more sustainable than coffee… no crashing or ups and downs)
Now couple matcha’s superhero benefits with some immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory turmeric, and fuggedaboutit!!
Turmeric Matcha Latte
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 tsp organic matcha powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp maple syrup (add more to taste if desired)
- 1/2 cup non-dairy milk (I like using vanilla soy)
Mix all the ingredients in a small pot over medium heat and whisk until the mixture starts to simmer. Remove from stove top and pour into a pretty matcha-worthy mug, and DRANK up!!
