Summer Calls for Non-Toxic To-Go Sunscreen
Wanna hear something absolutely ridiculous? I didn’t start wearing sunscreen at all until I was in my 30s. I still don’t wear it regularly, and I know I should.
Reasons I slack on sunscreen:
- I treat the sun like an allergy anyway. We’re talkin’ indoor summers or big-ass sun hats and sunnies that cover at least 45% of mah face.
- I can’t stand the way sunblock feels and smells. I also don’t like how most of them leave a streaky white residue.
- I’m lazy.
When I think about how sun exposure causes wrinkles, though, I get hella inspired, haha. I clearly need to think about that more often. 😉
I wanted to quickly share with you guys two of my current favorite SPFs. They’re both from Derma e and they make sun protection easy-peasy, which is def a priority.
The Derma e Natural Mineral Sunscreen SPD 30 Stick is water resistant, and I love that you can apply it without having to squirt goop into your hands. It also blends in beautifully—doesn’t leave any residue behind. A-frickin-MEN! This bad boy is travel-friendly and easy to stash in your purse, gym bag, car, etc. Me gusta.
Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide 19%
Inactive Ingredients: Isopropyl Palmitate, Glyceryl Dibehenate (Vegetable Derived), Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, Cetyl Esters (Coconut Derived), Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters, Silica, Dimethicone, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract*, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).
The Derma e Sun Protection Mineral Powder with SPF 30 is basically a finishing powder/excess oil absorber. In fact, my brain doesn’t even register this as sunscreen. It’s just a part of my makeup routine, and again, I love that I don’t have to deal with white goop or rub anything in. This is super low maintenance, and it’s been a purse staple all summer long.
