10 DIY Baking Soda Beauty Hacks [VIDEO]
Baking soda, a mega common kitchen ingredient, is all kinds of awesome when it comes to beauty remedies. It’s anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, inexpensive, and hella multi-tasking.
I shared some of my favorite was to use this kick-ass ingredient for all of your natural beauty needs on KATU’s “Afternoon Live”. Recipes below. 🙂
10 DIY Baking Soda Beauty Hacks
- Clarifying shampoo – Add a tsp of baking soda to your shampoo, rub it into your hair and rinse as usual. It’s a great way to remove dirt, oil, and product residue.
- Dry shampoo – Mix 1/2 cup baking soda with 1/2 cup of cornstarch. You can add cocoa powder for color and essential oils for scent.
- Face scrub – Mix 2 tbsp baking soda, 1-2 tbsp jojoba oil, and 5 drops of tea tree oil. Rub on face in circular motion for 5 mins and rinse with warm water.
- Deodorant – Mix 2 tbsp baking soda, 1 tbsp corn starch, and 2 tbsp coconut oil with a fork until blended. Add essential oils of choice.
- Toothpaste – Mix 1/3 cup coconut oil, 2 tbsp baking soda, 1-2 packets of stevia, and 15 drops of peppermint essential oil. Store in jar and dip toothbrush in for use.
- Teeth whitener – Mash a large strawberry with enough baking soda to form a paste. Apply with toothbrush. Leave on for 5 mins and swish to rinse.
- Mouthwash – Mix 1 tsp of baking soda and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil in a glass of water, and swish.
- Itchy skin relief – Mix baking soda with water to form a paste. Rub on skin, leave on several minutes then rinse.
- Foot soak – Mix 3 tbps baking soda into a small tub of warm water and soak.
- Detox bath – Mix 1 cup epsom salt with 2 cups baking soda. Add mixture while drawing hot bath water, filling the tub 2/3 of the way full. Soak for 30 minutes.
