Trying Out Fun, All-Natural Self-Care Goodies from Cynaglow
Happy Quarantine Day #62,728,182 or however long it’s been, haha. I hope you all have been taking time to self reflect, dive inward, and focus a bit more on you. In an effort to encourage and support self-care, green beauty, and small business, I want to feature more indie brands that I feel need to be on your radar.
I recently placed an order from Cynaglow, a sweet online shop with uber fab, non-toxic, natural beauty stuffs, founded by Cynthia Liu. As a natural beauty advocate, Beautycounter consultant, and someone who suffers from allergies, she created this company to educate people how to better live a non-toxic lifestyle and to show them how natural, organic, and holistic products can help alleviate any skin concerns. I’m super lucky that she sent over a few of her favorite products for me to try! Let’s take a peep at what I got!
Luna Nectar Moon Boost Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum, $75 – Lemme tell you briefly about my lash journey. For starters, I have like 2 sad lashes, and that’s all mother nature gave me. For the longest time I wore falsies but they never looked realsies, haha. The serums I had tried in the past made my eyelids tingle in a funky, unnatural way, so I kinda let my lashes be puny for awhile and also because, well, covid. I ain’t goin’ nowhere. When I heard about this all-natural lash serum from Luna Nectar, I was like, “I’m IN!”
It doesn’t contain any funky chemicals or hormones and it’s 100% natural, vegan, organic, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, and pH balanced. There are zero parabens, sulfates, dyes, fragrance, phthalates… you get the picture. So you apply this at night along your lash line as you would eyeliner. Just set it and forget it, and let it work its magic while you get your beauty rest. Now, I’ve only been using this serum for a little under two weeks, so it’s still a bit early to see full results, but I have noticed my lashes look healthier and aren’t falling out as often as they usually do (i.e. every time I remove mascara). I’m super excited to keep using this and continue to see fanciness. Will keep y’all posted of course.

Orgaid Organic Anti-Aging Sheet Mask, $6 – I mentioned in a previous post that I’ve been face masking like a wild woman since covid took the main stage. It’s probably one of my favorite forms of self care – I’m 40 and mama neeeeds all the anti-aging TLC! This hydrating sheet mask from Orgaid contains moisture & antioxidant-rich ingredients like vitamin B3, aloe vera, witch hazel, hyaluronic acid, willow bark, lavender, rosemary, green tea, and horsetail. It’s the perfect cocktail of skin-lovin’ ingredients to help soothe, hydrate, nourish, and boost collagen. It’s also formulated with Ecoderma fabric technology which allows the serum to absorb more deeply into the skin.
I want to point out that there is a generous amount of serum in this mask. I applied the excess on my neck, decollete, and even on my hands. Left this bad boy on and pulled up a Netflix show while this mask done did its thang. I regret not using this while my boyfriend was home – would have been kinda fun to freak him out, haha.
The Metamorphic Jade Roller, $25 – So, I’m a bit new to facial rollers. They’ve always looked so chic and new age-y but I hadn’t really gotten my feet wet with them… but nowww, jade rollers = LIFE! As a self care queen (I’m owning it, calm down), I’m all about massages (mostly ones given to me by myself, haha) but incorporating facial massages is other level, y’all!
For those of you new to this beauty tool, it’s made from jade (can be made with other crystals, too), and it naturally stays cool to the touch. The roller de-puffs the face, and helps with under-eye circles and lymphatic drainage. It also tones, promotes circulation and eases facial tension. Oh oh, and it feels BOMB. Heaven. I use this when applying serums and facial moisturizers before bed. I highly, highly recommend adding a facial roller to your nightly routine. It’s also a pretty lil’ thang, looks so luxe on my bathroom counter.
Luna Nectar Obsidian Volumizing & Anti-Pollution Hair Jelly, $42 – Ok, I’m gonna be real with you… I was a little nervous when I saw this bottle of black hair jelly… I have pink hair and I’m mega fussy and particular about what goes on my locks to preserve my colorful hue. The kind peeps at Cynaglow and Luna Nectar reassured me that it won’t mess with my color, so big phew there. I’m always game for trying new products, and I’m already a huge fan of activated charcoal and all of its detoxifying wonder, so I became very intrigued by this product.
In case you’re wondering what a scalp jelly is (because I totally was), it’s something you use in place of shampoo. You rub the jelly into your scalp, wait five minutes, then rinse out and condition as usual. It’s simple to use, it smells amaaaaazing – big time minty vibe which I dig. Anything minty and tingly, sign my a$$ up!
Key ingredients in this hair jelly are charcoal, vitamin B5, bamboo extract, aloe, and horsetail – all perfectly meshed together to purify, fortify, and add volume. While I don’t typically seek to add volume to my mane because I have way too much hair and it’s poofy af, I did notice my hair felt super clean and fresh, more manageable and soft. I think hair jelly is my new jam! Haha, see what I did there?
Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Activated Charcoal, Sodium Cocoyl Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Glycerin, Lactobacillus, Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Extract, Glycerin, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Xanthan Gum, Acacia Gum, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Scelorotium Gum, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Essential Oil, Citric Acid
Please let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think! Also, what are some of your other favorite green beauty brands and products that you’ve been enjoying lately? xx
Products were gifted, however thoughts and opinions are my own. I don’t share anything on VBR that I don’t genuinely love.
