DIY Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics RTW Lip Tars
Guest post by Natacha Cole.
Do you still have the wildly popular Lip Tars from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) in their original packaging lying around? I do. Even before they launched their user-friendly RTW (ready-to-wear) version of their cult following liquid lipsticks, I considered transferring mine into empty lip gloss containers for easy portability and application. I love OCC Lip Tars because they are highly pigmented and only a tiny amount is needed for a beautiful lip color. However, what I did not love about the original packaging, was not being able to bring it with me for easy touch-ups throughout the day (I did not want to bring a lip brush with me all the time).
OCC is an amazing creative cosmetics company based in New York City, consisting of products that are high-quality and very pigmented, and were one of the first cosmetic companies to launch liquid lipsticks. All their products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free! How fantastic is that?!?
Here are the simple and quick steps that I followed to transfer my original Lip Tars:
Purchase empty lip gloss containers (Make sure they come with stoppers). Amazon is a great online source to find lip gloss containers in various sizes and different colored applicator caps. I bought really tiny ones with doe foot applicators and in a mix of black, silver, and gold.
Remove the applicator cap and carefully pour in your Lip Tar. Fill the container ¾ of the way. Space is needed in order for the applicator to fit in. You will have an overflow of product if you do fill it all the way and then insert the applicator cap.
Push the stopper into the lip gloss container.
Insert applicator cap and you are done! How easy was that? Now your original Lip Tar is ready-to-wear!
Tip: Combine two or more shades for a custom color OCC Lip Tar!
You can purchase OCC products directly through their website and at Urban Outfitters (online and in store).
Have you transferred your original OCC Lip Tars? If so, did you customize your shade?
